Brief Plot Telling
I didn’t watch most of the movie but it starts with the school becoming biracial and the football coach being replaced by a black man. then the white former coach becomes the deputy coach and they train the team not only to be better football players but also to look past race when you judge a person. then i saw the end were the white jock learned not to be a racist and then got hit by a car and got paralyzed. then they win the game.
A Character Who Stood Out
Louie is a interesting character because his arch is very different to the other people in the film. Most other characters in the film share a similar arch of learning not to be racist but Louie has already learned not to be racist. An example of this is when he sits at the table with all of the black people. This is why he instead of not being racist has to learn to get smart so he can go to collage.
Setting Effectiveness
Remember the titans is set mainly in two places Gettysburg and Alexandria. Gettysburg represents the collaboration between the races because it is a place were many white people fought and died so that black people could have civil rights. Alexandria on the other hand represents the close mindedness of America at that time to equality. this is shown when Gary’s girlfriend breaks up with him because he is friends with a black man.
Directors Intent
I believe the director’s intent with making this film was to remind the masses to accept everyone without prejudiced. this is the main message of the film and most of the characters arks. he shows this in many aspects of the film and it is very effective.
One cinematography technique used
In many of the shots at the start of the movie the black people are sitting on one side and the white people on the other. As the film proceeds the characters get closer on an emotional level. The director showed this near the end of the film by making the shots filled with the black and the white characters together.
