1 How does the setting differ in Lumberman’s film from Shakespeare’s play?
In time Lumberman made his Romeo and Juliet set in 1996 to appeal to a new audience but I don’t understand why it isn’t set in 2020 that would be more present.

2 How and why is Juliet associated with angels as a motif throughout the film?
It’s because she is very innocent.


3 Why do the filmmakers present the plot as a news story?
It plants suspicion and int reg.

4 How would it be if it were reality TV?
It would be popular because it has a bunch of conflicts.

5 Why do the families hate each other?
they are just rival families and Tybalt is sid the sloth.

6 Why do people play romeo and Juliet?
Because the are young talented and popular actors and they are around the same age.

7 Does the modern setting work?
I think it does,at first it’s a bit jarring to see modern people speaking in Shakespearean language but it makes for a very unique viewing experience.

8 What effect does Romeo dying Juliet’s in arms create?
I think it gives Juliet a chance to see the effect of everything that has happened during the play and it makes Juliet killing herself more understandable.

9 Why isn’t the peaceful resolution shown on screen?
It’s because we don’t need to see the resolution because we have already been told what happens so it would be unnecessary to show the end.
